Fairly compact, relatively easy to use, although some practice is required as is a magnifying glass to read the manual. Some confussion about getting it to read rose or green gold, I did get it to give me the right results but I'm not sure how pratical this would be out in the field. On the whole good little gadget shame that you still have to carry a bottle of acid about with it.
